Du the Dudek : ウィキペディア英語版 | Du the Dudek ''Du the Dudek'' is a novelty song sung and written by The Trophy Boyz celebrating Liverpool F.C.'s historic fifth UEFA Champions League win in 2005. It reached number 37 in the UK charts and 7 in the UK Indie charts. In the Final of the competition, Liverpool trailed 3-0 to AC Milan at half time but went on to win the game on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Before the penalty shootout began, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher persuaded his team's goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek to do his utmost to distract the Milan kick-takers and give Liverpool the edge. Dudek duly performed a series of strange 'dances' on his goal-line, resulting in some poor kicks from Milan and especially from Serginho and Andriy Shevchenko. It was this behaviour that inspired the song. It is also reminiscent of Bruce Grobbelaar's spaghetti legs during the penalty shootout in the 1984 European Cup final. Liverpool won that shootout 4-2. The song was released in July 2005. Profits from the sale of the song went to the family of Michael Shields, a Liverpool supporter imprisoned in Bulgaria in controversial circumstances following the match. ==References==
